2011 started Reptile Camp with a simple theme, which we return to for our first week of our 10 th
summer! Lizard Day, Amphibian and Arachnid Day, Turtle & Tortoise Day & Snake Day will be
our themes.
Reptiles and Amphibians have successfully adapted to live in most of the world. Campers will go on a journey around the globe meeting animals from Australia/Asia, Africa, South America and
North America – including our own backyard!
We know about endangered species like pandas and gorillas. Our cold-blooded friends don’t get
the same exposure and support. This week introducers campers to the importance of amphibians,
reptiles and invertebrates to the ecosystem. We will meet and learn about native species like the
boreal toad, invasive species like iguanas and pythons, endangered species like Banded Iguanas,
and much more!
Reptiles and amphibians have made their home in every type of environment. From aquatic
turtles to burrowing snakes to lizards living high in the canopy, this week we meet animals that
live from Sea to Tree!
Reptiles run the gamut in sizes, from the small Kenyan Sand Boa to giant pythons and crocodiles. Learn about some of the wee and not so wee cold blooded creatures.
Reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates have a variety of diets. This is important both for pets and how they help us control pests in the wild. Meet the insectivores, herbivores, omnivores and carnivores of Reptile Camp!
